A postpartum doula can be a tremendous help to the entire family after your baby is born, especially at night. Here are 7 ways a doula can help with overnight care after you bring your new baby home:
#1 During her shift, the doulas primary goal is to help you get sleep.
#2 When the baby is hungry, she will bring the baby to you if you are breastfeeding or feed the baby if you are bottle feeding.
#3 After the baby eats, she will burp the baby, change the baby’s diaper, and soothe her back to sleep.
#4 If the baby has any other issues at night, the doula will tend to those.
#5 If there are quiet tasks, like unloading the dishwasher, washing bottles, or folding laundry, she can do that for you.
#6 In the morning, she will make sure everything is set up for your day.
#7 A doula provides unbiased, non-judgmental support for you. She is there to ensure you get what you need, not to impose any ideas or opinions on you.
